Description

Effective assessment of adult social care need is a cornerstone of community care policy and legislation. To help Social Service Departments implement changes in their assessment systems, the Social Services Inspectorate commissioned a review of arrangements in four authorities. Each was working towards the development of an integrated system designed to assess people's needs holistically in relation to a wide range of possible service options, rather than having separate service-led assessments. This document presents an analysis of findings and examines current practices, policies and procedures and gives advice on implementation.
