Description

This text takes as its theme the shape of Europe's human geography in the year 2020. By analyzing current trends and possibilities allied to imaginative extrapolation, the book presents scenarios for change and development that will define the world for our children and grandchildren. By choosing either growth, for maximum economic returns, equity, for fairness and social justice, or environmental, for conservation and green consciousness, scenarios, the reader can see where patterns and processes discernible now might lead and take an informal position on how the future should be shaped. The authors' canvas is wide, embracing all aspects of economic, social and cultural activity; and deals with topics from tourism to goods transport, from fertility rates to telephone usage.
