Description
Peter Brook's "The Mahabharata" attracted massive public interest during its short touring life, and a subsequent six hour film version was televised worldwide. A number of critics hailed it as "the theatrical event of the decade". Yet most of the critical material has failed to address a number of central issues: the production's relationship with Brook's other work and the politics of theatre interculturalism, for example. This book seeks not only to engage such issues, but also to describe the nature of the working process and to detail the technical problems engendered by touring a production of such size and complexity.
