This book deals with parallel hardware and algorithms and the applications and relationship between them, discussing image and vision theory. Subjects covered include parallel computer architecture, parallel computer algorithms and languages, low level processing techniques and image processing techniques. A section is devoted to the applications of digital image processing including biomedical, industrial and remote sensing applications. Computer hardware and the algorithms required for image processing and computer vision, are discussed in detail. The need for parallel hardware and algorithms in the massive parallel solutions required for image processing and computer vision are covered and emphasis is placed on the parallelism inherent in the solution.
