"The editio princpes of Alfasi differs from all subsequent editions, as well as from the various manuscripts that served as a basis for those editions. This is the only text not containing numerous passages which are not an integral part of Alfasi's work, but glosses of one or more students erroneously included in the Bombergi edition, and thereby incorporated in all later editions. These passages often prevented a true understanding and interpretation of Alfasi's Halachot"
