An examination of key aspects of tourism policy in developed countries. Tourism is of considerable economic importance with implications for employment, transportation, and regional development policy. In addition, it can generate significant side effects; some positive, such as putting a location "on the map" , and some negative, such as congestion, overcrowding and environmental damage.
