Description

This is a review of the significant episodes in Europe's history after World War II: the division of Germany, the reconstruction of Europe through the Marshall Plan, the creation of NATO, the decision to station American troops in large numbers in Europe, the epoch-making French bet, the Schuman Plan and the beginning of European integration. Emphasis is placed on the USA's preoccupation with Europe and the efforts of US foreign policy on European security and economic arrangements during the postwar years.
