Part of a series which aims to inform non-specialists about recent scientific developments, this book argues that earthquake prediction could save a great many lives. The author provides a survey of plate tectonics and earthquake dynamics and goes on to say why current prediction methods are inadequate. Finally, he goes on to describe a new system of prediction which, in his opinion, could save thousands of lives.
