Description and Table of Contents

Description

Recent improvements in instruments, anaesthesia and diagnostic aids (including MRI), along with collaborative expertise, have allowed surgeons to surmount technical problems to remove or treat tumours which have previously been inaccessible. This book provides a detailed review of the surgical procedures involved in the management of different types of cranial tumours. Neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists and neuroradiologists contribute to give a total management picture. The book commences with a radiological chapter which focuses on surgical planning and includes a section on three-dimensional radiology. Organized by tumour type and indicating the most appropriate approach for each, the coverage proceeds from the front of the skull to the back. A special chapter is devoted to invasive procedures such as angiography and intravascular therapy.
