内容説明
Following a brief review of human cardiovascular physiology, Chandrian here treats topics on rheology of blood, mechanics of blood vessels, and steady and unsteady models for blood flow in large vessels from a clinical and research point of view. In the area of cardiac mechanics, techniques for the cardiac imaging and three-dimensional reconstruction of cardiac chambers are discussed. Subsequently the mechanics of cardiac muscles, including ultrastructural basis for cardiac contraction, myocardial stress distribution, passiva elastic properties of the myocardiu, and models to describe the contractile activity of the muscles are all presented. Design and evaluative aspects as well as the current status of development of prosthetic implants are other topics included in the book. The text assumes only a knowledge of basic fluid and solid mechanics and is intended for senior-level undergraduate and beginning graduate-level students who are interested in this area of study. It should also be of interest to cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons who are interested in the mechanical aspects of the human circulatory system.
