Description and Table of Contents

Description

This workbook is designed to give cataloguers practice in original descriptive cataloguing. It is especially intended for cataloguers in small libraries who must from time to time create original cataloguing for unique items in a variety of formats, but who don't have experienced specialists nearby. Bibliographic information is presented in a series of exercises, consisting of title page or other information which the reader will use to create a cataloguing record on the workform. Following each workform is the completed catalogue record (or "answer") and explanations citing the rules which apply. Formats covered include: books, archives and manuscripts, computer files, maps, music and sound recordings, visual materials, and serials.
