Description
This ethnographic study of kinship examines the Jamaican upper class, a group previously neglected in research on the Caribbean family, despite its integral role in the kinship system. The book offers insights into what earlier studies termed the colour/class hierarchy, by considering how gender both affects what these categories represent and is itself a distinct dimension of the social order.
