The Soviet Union is undergoing considerable economic turmoil and its government has been considering wide-ranging reforms and methods of attracting western capital. In order to achieve this, a series of new laws are now either in force of about to come into force, such as the new law on privatization of state enterprises. The authors of this report have translated and reviewed this new legislation which has revolutionized Soviet commercial law. The accompanying commentaries are based on the authors' own practical experience and should be useful to the professional adviser looking for information on commercial dealings with Russia and the Soviet Union.
