Description
This four volume set aims to provide a comprehensive reference source covering the field of otolaryngology. Biannual updates comlete the set and keep the information current. The book is organized by the traditional oriented approach. Special emphasis is placed on current clinical diagnosis and therapy, appropriate surgical techniques, and a comparison of alternative methods of treatment. The new material reflects clinical relevance wherever possible, advances in techniques, particularly diagnostic imaging with added CT scans and MRIs.
New chapters include: Volume 1: history and physical examination of the patient, interventional techniques for the head and neck, physiology of cutaneous tissue expansion, microvascular surgery, muscle physiology, acquired immuncodeficiency syndrome in otolaryngology, local anaesthesia in facial plastic surgery, chemical peel, liposuction, augmentation procedures, nonendoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, and CSF leaks; Volume 2: surgical complications; Volume 3: laryngeal trauma from intubation, management of the impaired airway in adults, neurologic disorders of the larynx and hypopharynx, chronic aspiration, total laryngectomy and laryngopharyngectomy; Volume 4: sensorineural hearing loss in adults, clinical disorders of the facial nerve, interventional radiology and complications of cranial base surgery.
