Hugh Emy is the author of "The Politics of Australian Democracy and Public Policy - Problems and Paradoxes". Australian politics - realities in conflict, 2nd ed provides a theoretically informed introduction to Australian politics. This revised second edition has been rewrtten to provide up-to-date coverage of recent events. While retaining the same basic structure as the first edition, its material and arguments have been made more accessible to undergraduates.;Overall, two chapters have gone, two completely new chapters have been included and four chapters have been wholly revised and reorganised. The two new chapters are the Significance of Financial Deregulation and The Trade Crisis. These replace the previous chapter 1. They provide more detailed explanation of Australia's economic problems in a form suitable for students of politics. The chapter on the Framework of Political Debate has been rewritten to make the themes and arguments clearer.
