Description
The text has been thoroughly updated throughout to include the many developments in the law of tort over the last few years, both statutory and in case law. The House of Lords' decision in Murphy v. Brentwood D.C. is included as are the significant developments relating to liability for misstatements, for causing nervous shock and for allowing the causing of damage by a third party. Also included are other important judicial clarifications of the law in relation to causation in fact, liability for animals, the pleading rules in relation to the defences of defamation of justification and fair comment, and the economic torts, the latter in the case of Lonrho v. Al Fayed.
