Description
This volume will be the standard reference in otologic surgery because of its focus on the scientific basis of surgical decision making. Organized on a problem-oriented basis, the book not only shows how to perform various surgical procedures, but also explains how to select the best approach for the disease being treated and details the indications, contraindications, and complications of each procedure. Complementing the text are more than 600 clear illustrations, including over 200 in color. The book begins with a comprehensive guide to presurgical evaluation and thoroughly illustrated reviews of soft tissue incisions and approaches, skin grafting, and osseous approaches to the temporal bone. In the remaining 29 chapters, leading otologic surgeons review and recommend specific procedures--as well as therapeutic alternatives--for managing various otopathologic conditions. Coverage includes plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures for auricular deformities. A set of 250 slides of illustrations from this book, many of them in full color, is also available
