Richard Wollheim's contributions to philosophy have ranged extraordinarily across aesthetics, mind and psychoanalysis. He is one of the few philosophers in the analytic tradition to have engaged, in detail, in questions of why events in life mean what they do and how such significance informs works of art. Psychoanalysis, Mind and Art attempts to do justice to the breadth of Wollheim's work in the fields of psychoanalysis, mind and the emotions, art and politics and values.
