Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book is an introduction to the practice of linear programming. The program is aimed at any junior/senior undergraduate course that covers optimization with the only prerequisite being an understanding of algebra. The student edition is included with the text and its use is integrated throughout. The text presents linear programming in the context of hundreds of applications, incorporating a flexible LP system preferred by academics and corporate users alike. The fourth edition has been updated to include such features as: expanded chapters one and two form a step-by-step introduction for first-time students; new chapters have been added on goal programming, and the implementation and operations of LP-based decision support systems (DSS's); and the chapter on the use of integer programming has been expanded and reorganized according to classes of IP's commonly encountered in practice.
