内容説明

This teaching text commences with an appreciation of instruments as information gathering and processing machines, and presents a structured approach to the general design and effective use of instrumentation systems. "Introduction to Measurement Science and Engineering" presents a structured top-down approach, including examples and tutorial material. An attempt has been made to present a balance of both the formal and the heuristic knowledge that is typical and vital to instrument practice. The curriculum implicit in this text provides a generic methodology, applicable to any discipline needing instruction in "how to set up and make good measurement". Here technology is of secondary interest in examples that reinforce the main emphasis on the science of measurement and appropriate engineering design.
