This book looks at the issues involved in the implementation of an equal opportunities policy. It examines how the subject has developed since the first laws on equality were introduced. Current legisaltion on sex discrimination, race relations, disability, ex-offenders, sex orientation and ageism are described. Examples of policy developments and of good practice are given. There are also chapters on the Opportunity 2000 campaign; the European influence through EC directives; 1992 and the European Year of the Elderly and addressing the probelms raised by HIV and AIDS discrimination.
