内容説明

This volume presents a review of the diagnosis and treatment of cervical spondylotic myelopathy and related syndromes. Due to the severe impact this degenerative disease has on the spinal cord, the neurologist, the rheumatologist and physiotherapist have important roles to play in management. When surgical considerations are raised, an algorithm considering CSMS multifactorial aetiology and surgery's impact on stability are necessary. Through the multidisciplinary perspective, this book aims to enable the reader to determine his or her approach to CSM weighing diagnostic questions and prognostic criteria against a variety of management strategies. Full coverage of traditional laminectomy procedure is given, along with with detailed discussion of the increasingly accepted but nevertheless controversial corpectomy - a frontal approach to the spine with the additional benefits of stiffening the spine and relieving local pressure although additional surgery is involved.
