Description and Table of Contents

Description

The aim of this book is to provide a knowledge of the nature, purpose and legal requirements of a construction contract, and its application to the various types of project encountered in this industry. This book attempts to reflect the changes which have occurred in the contractual procedures used in the construction industry. The process of change whilst evolutionary and gradual, has gathered pace as it moves towards the end of the 20th-century. This text includes a chapter on the intermediate form of contract, since this is now being used more extensively in place of its competitors. The author has also considerably enlarged the section dealing with procurement. A major part of the book still concentrates on a review of the standard form of building contract and this has been updated and amended where necessary. A description of documentation and some common legal cases are given. It is designed to be a reference for the professional in practice or for anyone who requires an understanding of contractual procedures in the construction industry; students taking degree or technician courses in surveying, building and architecture.
