内容説明

Anxiety states are commonly seen and treated in general practice. In the past anxiolytic medication was widely used in the management of such disorders, but tranquillizers ae no longer the treatment of choice for many medical proctitioners because of the dangers of unwanted side effects and physical dependence. As a result, there is a need for an effective non-pharmacological therapy which is appropriate for use in general practice or other mental health care settings. This book sets out an alternative psychological approach which has been demonstrated to be as effective as drug therapy, whilst being no more expensive to use. The approach involves teaching self-help skills to anxious individuals so that they might take control of their own anxiety symptoms. This practical guide has been developed to meet the needs of non-psychologists who wish to practice psychological intervention.
