内容説明

The transition from state socialism to modern capitalism in Eastern Europe is one of the main challenges facing economics in the 1990s. Combining the detached analysis of a Western specialist with the detailed knowledge of two Eastern European academics, "Economic Transition in Eastern Europe" aims to avoid "a priori" assumptions and superficial description to give a rigorous empirical analysis of the process of transition. The authors provide up-to-date empirical material and combine this with surveys of the relevant theoretical literature. The book should offer students, academics and professionals a valuable and informed insight into the momentous economic transition currently underway in Eastern Europe. The book is written by academics who have experienced transition in Eastern Europe at first hand. It should be of interest to students, academics and researchers studying the process of transition in Eastern Europe and to anyone undertaking courses in economic policy, economics of transition, international economics, development economics, monetary economics and Russian studies. Professionals and officials in governmental and intergovernmental organizations may also find it useful.
