Description

A detailed survey of well over 1000 pictures purchased or commissioned by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and members of their family from artists, both British and foreign, working in this country. The catalogue, which contains portraits, paintings of events and ceremonials during the Queen's reign, and many other subjects, provides a unique record of the life, family circle and reign of Queen Victoria. It also contains much unique material for the study of the arts, patronage and taste in the nineteeenth century.
