This study gives a complete exposition on zeolites, from their genesis to their utilization. Starting with the history and discovery of zeolites, the book then presents information on their chemical composition and the crystal morphology. The authors consider the problems found in dealing with the genetic peculiarities, and the industrial significance of zeolite deposits of sedimentary origin. Comprehensive physico-chemical characterization of certain types of natural zeolites is included. The practical applications in industry, (including problems associated with the drying and cleaning of various gaseous and liquid systems), and their possible application in the extraction of radioactive elements from waste waters (presented in the latter part of the book) are discussed. The uses of natural zeolites in agriculture, especially in animal husbandry, plant growing and fishery are also addressed, and the defence of the environment from different sources of pollution is emphasized.
