This introduction to Hinduism, based on a series of lectures given by the author, seeks to recount the history of this religion from the Indus civilization, the warrior Aryans to the wandering ascetics and encompasses the art, architecture, literature and religion of South India. This book covers the evolution of classical Hinduism, a multi-faceted religion with a mystique and summarizes major Hindu texts, such as the "Mahabharata" and the "Bhagavadgita".
