内容説明
This study provides a systematic analysis of the changing character of state-society relations during Algeria's critical transitional stage of development from agricultural society to modern industrialized nation. Paying special attention to processes of democratization, the contributors explain the decline in the 1980s of a dominant, authoritarian one-party state and investigate the dynamics of new social forces and the challenges they pose to the incumbent political leadership.
