A collection of documents on the process of Italian Unification 1831-61, with related questions designed for sixth form studies. Each chapter focuses on a particular problem or event, while the overall question of the book asks to what extent the Risorgimento was a coherent movement. The main area of controversy concerns the role played by the three heroes of the Risorgimento - Cavour, Garibaldi and Mazzini - and their interaction with outside agents such as Napoleon III.
