Description and Table of Contents
Description
An overview of the provision of financial services in 14 European countries in accordance with the European Community's Single Market concept. An American perspective is offered of how the Single Market for banks and investment firms affects US banks and investment firms doing business in the European Community. The authors also discuss the progress that their respective countries have made in harmonizing their legislation with the corresponding European Community Directives in the fields of banking, securities and insurance. Finally, this special issue of the "Comparative Law Yearbook of International Business" examines and explains the provisions of particular EC Directives in detail, eg the First and Second Banking Directives, the Investment Services Directive, and describes how the European consumer will be protected in the Single Market.
