Description and Table of Contents

Description

This is the first comprehensive and book-length study of the Wyoming State Constitution. This landmark reference gives an overview of its 100-year history, providing the full text of the constitution with an article by article commentary, a bibliographical essay, table of cases, and a general index. The book is designed for college students (who must all pass a course in Wyoming history before graduation), legal scholars and professionals, historians, and political scientists. Since the official journal of the 1889 Wyoming Constitutional Convention proceedings is poorly indexed, the authors provide page references to the journal as well as a full general index. The volume describes Wyoming's rich and colorful constitutional history, including the 1889 convention, analyzes the continuing and varied stream of constitutional amendments including th 60 that have been approved, and highlights important state supreme court constitutional decisions. Readers will be introduced to the division of power among the three branches of the state government and how individual rights are defined and protected.
