This book aims to contribute to a more integrated understanding of the interaction between society, business and individual actors in the realm of corporate social performance. Drawing on the results of interviews with managers in 60 companies in Britain and Germany that had conducted programmes for unemployed youths, the author explores the definition of responsibilities of business in society, the involvement of companies in societal issues, and the characteristics of "responsive corporations".
