Poverty in India has been an intensely practical concern and research on poverty has grown in scope and sophistication with parallel evolution of public policy and expansion of poverty alleviating programs. This volume examines various aspects of research and policy and their interactions. It shows relations of poverty to economic and demographic change and evaluates anti-poverty intervention of the government.
