Description and Table of Contents

Description

The 9th International Conference on Wear of Materials aimed to stimulate the exchange of information between suppliers of new materials, industries that are involved with applications and new techniques of production and control, and research laboratories. The 153 papers in these two volumes review - on a practical as well as a theoretical level - metallic and non-metallic materials in a variety of fields.

Table of Contents

Friction behaviour of ceramic fibre-reinforced aluminum metal-matrix composites against a 440C steel counterface (S.V. Prasad, K.R. Meeklenburg). Friction and wear behaviour of mosaic surfaces formed by laser line remelting of cast iron (D. Lauper et al.). In situ wear experiments in the scanning Auger spectrometer (W.A. Glaeser et al). Rolling sliding behaviour of rail steels (M. Sato et al). Study on the microstress and size of mosaic block and their relationship to the wear resistance of steels (Y. Wang et al). The combined effect of speed and humidity on the wear and friction of silicon nitride (M.G. Gee, D. Butterfield). Effect of microstructure on the wear transition of zirconia toughened alumina (C. He et al). Macroscopic and microscopic wear mechanisms in ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (J.R. Cooper et al).
