This dictionary contains 1.7 million words of text, over 160,000 definitions, 1600 pages, and a new larger format. Also provided is an introduction with articles on the history of English, a summary of spelling rules, tables of commonly misspelt words, prefixes, suffixes and irregular verbs. A six-part appendix contains an up-to-date gazetteer with capitals, languages and currencies; world standard times; the periodic table; weights and measures.
