Description and Table of Contents
Description
User modelling is a new area of research on which there is very little existing literature. This book seeks to provide information on state-of-the-art research. With reference to a particular generation system, TAILOR, developed at the Information Science Institute, the author demonstrates that a question-answering programme can be constructed to tailor its answers to the specific needs or expertise of a particular user. Thus several discourse strategies can be combined in a single text and a wider variety of texts can be produced.
Table of Contents
- The user model in TAILOR
- the text analysis
- the discourse strategies used in TAILOR
- combining the strategies to describe devices for a whole range of users
- TAILOR system implementation
- related work
- beyond TAILOR. Appendix A: examples of texts for novices. Appendix B - examples of texts for experts.
