内容説明
The drawings in this book are defined as "any unique work on paper", and are examined in relation to the social influences of the period in which they were created, the genre, and the medium. Topics covered include drawings of natural history, Aborigines and landscape; portraits; scenes of contemporary life of the 1850s; decorative drawing; watercolours; surrealist drawing and many others. Stylistic changes and changes in perception are examined, as are the many "revivals" that drawing has had since the 1920s.
