Description
This work provides guidance on how to handle data in libraries and information services using appropriate types of software for microcomputers. There is an emphasis on data management at the small or medium-sized service point, where giving advice on how to organize data is as important as developing applications for running the service point. A wide range of software is covered, from file handlers to database management systems and free-text systems. Also included are the uses of word processors, spreadsheets, expert systems and hypertext software.
