内容説明

The quality of receiving waters and the urban environment depends heavily on effective wastewater treatment and sewerage systems. But much of the world has inadequate facilities and even better equipped countries have problems in meeting the demands now made. Many sewer systems are aging and undermaintained; new areas of concern, e.g. nutrient removal, are arising; and more stringent effluent standards are being set, often as a result of international agreements. To address these issues leading experts from 30 countries gathered for the "Sewage Into 2000" conference, held alongside the Aquatech 1992 exhibition. The 47 papers selected here include topics covering interactions of sewerage and wastewater treatment; transportation and sedimentation in sewers; control and real-time control in sewerage systems; sewer design; sewer management; new developments in wastewater treatment; nutrient removal; and special topics in wastewater treatment. This book should be of interest to scientists, engineers, policy-makers and managers working in sanitary and municipal engineering, ecology and environmental protection, planning and the management of urban infrastructure.
