The development of practices and attitudes to several categories of severly disabled subjects is discussed in this book with particular reference to their use as sources of tissues and organs for transplantation. It deals in the subject of brain death and the changes in approach over three decades including the extension of this category to other groups such as coma patients, anencephalic infants and so on. The book also discusses the current status of the use of foetal brain tissue.
