内容説明
Oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV) has been a remarkable success, making global eradication of poliomyelitis a realistic goal. Attenuation is an important issue in the development and control of live vaccines. Recent progress in molecular biology has led to new insights into the structure, function and mechanisms of poliovirus attenuation. This volume brings together the world's leading poliovirus researchers to discuss this new knowledge and its theoretical and practical implications. The contributors describe what is now known about the mechanisms of attenuation of poliovirus neurovirulence and explore some new methods for identifying the potential for neurovirulence in a vaccine virus preparation. Methods for measuring neurovirulence are also presented. The advances considered in this book should interest researchers in the area, as well as those concerned with the development and application of new tools for the control of OPV.
