内容説明
This book gives a practical, in depth account of the assessment, evaluation and control of health risks from hazardous substances at work. Describing the varied nature of the biological effects of excessive exposure to hazardous substances, the book aims to introduce principles and practices upon which measures for preventing industrial diseases caused by such substances can be based. Methods are given for setting exposure limits from documented human experience and from animal experiments in the laboratory. Formulae are worked out for setting the exposure limits for over 25,000 different substances. A quantitative approach to the assessment of health risks is advocated, aided by evaluating exposure directly with measuring devices and by biological monitoring. The control of the in-plant environment so as to minimise exposure is outlined with emphasis on the ventilation provisions. Protective clothing, respirators and other personal equipment is reviewed. Written by a leading international expert in the field, this book is the most comprehensive and authoritative work yet on a subject of increasing importance to industry today.
