内容説明
The countries of Asia, whose populations total 3.1 billion (or 59 per cent of the world's total) are in the midst of a dramatic shift toward population control. This volume is the first major attempt to chart and explain the transition Asians are making from high to low fertility and to assess its implications. It is comprehensive in its analysis and challenges conventional theories of population change. Because the earlier declines in Western rates of fertility are still not clearly understood, this revolution in the demographics of Asian population is of great importance to planners, policymakers, and scholars.
