The success of the five International Conferences on Water Chemistry of Nuclear Systems held in Bournemouth since 1977 has shown the worldwide interest in obtaining a scientific understanding of the chemistry that determines the operational behaviour of nuclear power stations. In this, the sixth report, particular emphasis is given to the discussion of the chemical factors important to the operation of water power reactors and their experience of load following, operation with minimum radiation dose to operators and minimum effluent discharge.
