Description
There have been great advances in the field of immunology since the fourth edition of this book was published in 1982. Lachmann and Peters have been joined by two new co-editors and together they have supervised the complete revision of the text by over 150 internationally respected authors, many of whom are new to this edition. The sections on methods and materials has been completely updated while and there has been a change of emphasis away from organ based descriptions to concentrate on allergies, infection and the immunocompromised patient. The book is divided into sections which cover the anatomical basis of the immune system, the architecture of immunity, the induction and regulation of immune responses, advances in technology, immunological intervention, allergy, connective tissue disease, immunodeficiency, immunology of infection, transplantation, tumour immunology, organ based immunology.
