This work describes the ways in which the techniques of hyperthermia have been used in a project in Japanese oncology clinics since 1984. The physical, biological and clinical aspects of hyperthermic oncology are detailed. The author, Dr Matsuda, chaired the project, which was supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan. This book comprises the project's final report on six years of work and has been an introduction to the overview of the physical, biological and clinical aspects of hyperthermic oncology. The book should provide the reader with the most up-to-date information available to date concerning the use of hyperthermic oncology in both medical research and clinical practice in Japan.
