This atlas presents clear duplex scans, and correlative line drawings that further elaborate on the clinical information visible in the scans. Duplex scanning is becoming an increasingly important diagnostic tool for vascular surgeons and radiologists. The atlas focuses on the use of duplex scanning of the extremities where the technique is especially useful to investigate locus and extent of thrombosis. The book summarizes several major clinical studies, including: what veins are normally seen; how does the accuracy of duplex scanning compare to phlebography in the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis; how to use duplex scanning to determine the location and incidence of venous thrombosis of the lower extremity; the findings of upper extremity scanning including subclavian-axillary thrombosis; and the propagation of small vein thrombi.
