内容説明
This book examines the practical and theoretical issues and concerns in domestic violence from an international perspective and includes contributions from researchers in a wide variety of associated fields. Women are the overwhelming majority of victims of sexual assault, murder, and intimate violence. Worldwide, however, women's needs and interests are not only ignored, but women are also blamed for their victimization by the police, lawyers, judges, and society in general. This is especially true of domestic violence, due to its private nature - out of public sight and scrutiny. This book facilitates the development of victimology as a relevant approach to this centuries-old and intractable social problem, and it brings together authors who have made contributions in the field of domestic violence. Providing a balance between practical and theoretical issues and concerns, and offering international perspectives, this volume is divided into seven sections. The study of marital and family interaction and its ensuing conflict cuts across disciplinary boundaries. Thus, the authors are researchers in varied fields (ie. sociology, psychology, psychiatry, criminology, social work, nursing, public health), and their writings attempt to translate theory into practice.
This book is aimed at sociologists, criminologists, psychologists, social and health care workers and social workers.
