Description and Table of Contents
Description
This directory is prepared by the Sector of Social and Human Sciences, UNESCO. Newly updated and enlarged, and compiled from UNESCO's DARE Data Bank, it is the established source for all details of the world's major social science information services. These range from libraries and archives to bibliographic and search services, dealing either with data in printed or electronic form, or information about such data. Private firms and government services with restricted access are not included, but otherwise a full range of social science institutions is included, providing that they retain both permanent staff and a body of accessible information. Over 100 countries participate in supplying data to UNESCO for this directory, and there is a full index of countries, an index of services, descriptive entries on the services themselves, an index of names of key staff and officials, plus indexes of subject specialisms, geographical coverage and databases.
